Welcome to Bath

Next week the Bath Welcome Ambassadors hit the streets. This team are the friendly faces of Bath, here to provide all visitors with a warm and informed welcome to the city.

Emily coordinates a team of volunteers, all following in the footsteps of other major tourist cities York, Chester, London and even Whistler Ski Resort. Their role is similar to that of Games Makers at the Olympics, to help visitors in a kind and friendly manner to find their way around the city – Which way to the Roman Baths? Where is the Fashion Museum? What time does the rugby start?

Dressed in their bright blue jackets, emblazoned with ‘Welcome to Bath’ and ‘Ask me!’, the team will be on hand around the city from Thursday to Sunday each week. If you spot one of the Welcome Ambassadors on the street – say hello!

This is a brand new programme for the city and one that has been much anticipated. Many of us within the city have provided guidance to a lost-looking tourist or visiting family members and we know what a difference that personal touch can bring. The Bath Business Improvement District (Bath BID) has been tasked by its members, the city centre businesses, to provide a professional meet and greet service for all city users, giving a lasting impression of friendliness and vibrancy.

Bath is blessed with museums, sporting venues, theatres and tourist attractions as well as a vibrant shopping scene, food for every palate and world class festivals. We want to capitalise on these cultural riches and grow our tourist industry. The warm welcome the Bath Welcome Ambassadors will provide to our visitors from the rest of the UK and the world will help us achieve this.
