During the Summer and Winter, we engage families with young children and encourage them to come into the city to take part in a trail.
Every season, we ask businesses if they would home an image or small toy inside their shop windows so that families can follow the trail through the city and enter a competition if they find them all.
In the past we have done the following:
Summer 2023 – Doggie in the Window
During the Summer of 2023, we encourage families to spot the small felt dogs in shop windows. Each dog was a different breed and they had to guess which breed the dog was.
At the end of the competition, there was the opportunity to adopt one of the felt dogs. All of the money raised went to the Bath Cats and Dogs Home.
Winter 2023 – Starry Light TrailÂ
In celebration of the star-shaped willow lanterns that were created for our ‘Bath Lights the Night’ event, we placed 25 stars in various shop windows throughout Bath. Over the 25 days leading up to Christmas, we celebrated each business with a star in the window and encouraged people to follow the trail and find the next star in the window.
Summer 2024 – Wylde Creatures of Bath
As part of our preparations for Bath BID in Bloom, we renovated the benches by Bath Abbey. During the renovation works, we wanted to add something more to the benches and one of our team is an artist. She drew beautiful animals on the benches. Each animal is native toBath and can be found around the city centre. Find out more about the Biodiversity Bench Project here.
Shortly after the painting was completed, we were approached by jeweller Nicholas Wylde, who suggested that we create a trail out of it. A booklet was designed featuring all of the animals and businesses got involved by offering prizes and having animals in their shop windows.
