Bath BID announced as Britain In Bloom finalist
The Bath BID is delighted to announce that it has been nominated to compete at a national level in the RHS competition, a giant step up from the regional competition.
Communities from all four corners of the UK are donning their gardening gloves as they prepare to battle it out in the Royal Horticultural Society’s (RHS) 2019 Britain in Bloom competition. Bath BID competes against Business Improvement Districts from across the country including Kings Lynn, Canary Wharf, Bicester and Dunfermline.
Finalists are put forward to the national final based on their progress regionally and will be scored by a team of RHS national judges in the summer.
Allison Herbert, CEO of Bath BID, proudly commented; “We are delighted that all our efforts at a regional level have been recognised and looking forward to competing in 2019 on the national platform.”
Last year, the Bath BID achieved Gold at the South West in Bloom Awards for the second year in a row. In addition they took Best in Category in the Royal Horticultural Society’s annual awards.
The South West in Bloom judges toured the city in July, at the height of the heatwave and they were impressed by the watering initiatives; the deep reservoir troughs and planters of the city centre displays. There were a variety of new initiatives in 2018, including wildflower planting, community initiatives such as Wild Walcot, the use of herbs & vegetables in amongst the flowers and the new devices to combat vandalism. The Bath BID were also able to assist with city centre watering and maintenance, overcoming financial obstacles faced by the Council.
