The lifeblood of any city’s economy is the people who shop there and do business there.
One of the Bath BID’s priorities is to promote Bath to increase footfall and dwell-time. Our focus is to welcome all visitors, whether people live or work here or are just visiting.
We promote the city via our consumer facing website called Welcome to Bath. The site was created in 2020 to share events and special offers in the city, providing a virtual ‘Welcome Ambassador’ guide to Bath. Levy Payers are able to take advantage of free event listings, which can be uploaded here. Associated with the website, we send out a concise consumer newsletter every week. It has 7,000 subscribers. We are happy to share information about what’s on, what’s new and what is special in the newsletters. Please make use of this free resource for businesses and sign up for the newsletter here.
Social media has become increasingly important for the Bath BID, with Instagram, Twitter and Facebook our primary outlets. We use our channels to let people know about our work and to share what is going on in the city. We hope that city centre businesses will make use of this opportunity to make the most of our influence. Please feel free to tag us in your posts so that we can spread the news.
Working closely with Visit Bath and Visit West, we support wider activities and campaigns which ensure that Bath receives the high profile it deserves across national and international platforms.
To encourage footfall, we organise our own events (Summer Sundays, Rebalance Bath, Bath Business Conference) and support major events (such as Bath Festivals, Bath Carnival, Bath Christmas Market and Great Bath Feast). There are also perhaps unexpected city events which bring thousands of visitors to the city, such as university graduations and open days.
To make it easy for you to find out about forthcoming events like these as well as ongoing BID promotional campaigns, we have created a shared Comms and Major Events spreadsheet. This is a live working plan which shows you what we are working on in the next few months and is designed to help you to find out how to get involved, who to contact, what hashtags to use. The event plan is updated regularly, so please let us know if we have missed anything and bookmark the page so that you can come back to it when you are planning your events and campaigns.
