The Bath Safe Bus and Bath College are collaborating to support 16 Days of Action (25 Nov – 10 Dec) Against Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) and to encourage students to be safe whilst enjoying a night out in the city centre. Here are our top tips for keeping safe on a night out:
- Stick with your friends – No matter how many drinks you’ve had or which club you’re going to, stay together. Don’t end up on your own
- Charge your phone – Fully charge your phone before heading out. Apps like WhatsApp, Snapchat and social media can drain you battery fast – and you don’t want to be left without a way to get home or contact your friends.
- Eat before drinking – A bowl of pasta or a couple of slices of toast before a night out will slow down alcohol absorption and help you pace yourself
- Plan your transport home – Don’t just book a taxi at the start of the night. Make sure you know how you’ll get home safely – pre-book taxis, coordinate lifts with friends, and ensure you have enough money to get home
- Let someone know your plans – Share your location with trusted friends, tell someone when you’re heading out, or send a quick text on your way home
Need help? If you ever feel vulnerable or need support, call 999 or visit the Bath Safe Bus on Friday and Saturday nights, located by Bath Abbey, Orange Grove, 10.30pm – 4am.
Stay safe and enjoy your night out!
