What is a Business Crime Reduction Partnership?

A Business Crime Reduction Partnership (BCRP) is trusted and tested model of partnership work between businesses, local police, the Council and the BID to address crime and anti-social behaviour negatively impacting a business community.

What is the aim of the Safe and Secure Bath BCRP?

The aim of the Bath BID Safe and Secure BCRP is to prevent and deter business crime and antisocial behaviour in Bath city centre.

The Safe and Secure BCRP brings together daytime and night time security under one partnership, working with businesses, B&NES Council, Avon and Somerset Police and local partners to create a safe and secure retail environment for both businesses and secure retail environment for both businesses and customers to Bath, with the overall aim of making Bath a better place for all.

Aims and Objectives

  • Create a safe and secure environment for customers, staff and visitors, and to contribute to the economic viability and prosperity of the Safe and Secure Bath BCRP area.
  • Reduce the effects of crime upon Safe and Secure Bath BCRP businesses.
  • Reduce the fear of crime in the Safe and Secure Bath BCRP area.
  • Reduce the opportunity to commit crime and antisocial behaviour in the Safe and Secure Bath BCRP area.
  • Assist with the apprehension and prosecution of offenders.
  • Work with the business community, police, and other agencies within the Safe and Secure Bath BCRP area.
  • Create an integrated and effective partnership for all relevant sectors.
  • Manage offending behaviour through the sharing of photographs and information per the Data Protection Act 2018 and the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).

What does the Safe and Secure Bath BCRP include?

7 day a week Bath BID City Marshals, dealing with shop theft and antisocial behaviour.

The City Marshals can be contacted via the Bath BID Citylink radios and will aim to attend a business asap to support with an incident.

The Bath BID Citylink radio system connects to the businesses, CCTV, Police, the Bath BID City Marshals and Night Marshals. There is an additional cost of £2.94 a week to hire a radio.

DISC Against Crime – An online crime reporting platform for businesses to share crime and intelligence on persistent offenders. This is includes a weekly newsletter from DISC highlighting new offenders and updates. There is no additional cost to join DISC, it is included in the BID levy.

Additional Antisocial Behaviour Marshals, in the city on a Friday and Saturday evening between 5pm – 10.30pm

Night Marshals – In the city every Friday and Saturday night (10.30pm – 4.30am) supporting venues with incidents associated within the night-time economy.

Monthly Night-time economy meetings with venues and partners.

Monthly Retailers Security meetings with the Police and retailers.

Regular updates on the Safe and Secure BCRP via the weekly Levy Payer e-newsletter.

The Bath Safe Bus in the city every Friday and Saturday evening from 10.30pm – 4.00am. Supporting anyone who may be feeling vulnerable, struggling with their mental health or need first aid support. Staffed by a paramedic, City Marshal and volunteers
