Two portraits on loan to No.1 Royal Crescent have royal connections.

It’s pretty rare these days for a museum to be offered a perfect loan, but here are No.1 Royal Crescent with a PAIR of portraits, by one of the most famous artists of the eighteenth century, Allan Ramsay. As King’s Painter (to George III) they help No. 1 Royal Crescent tell the wider story of Georgian life. Pretty huge (both 4’ x 6’) it meant a re-jig of portraits around the house, and ‘Mr and Mrs Burrell’ now grace the elegant staircase.
