Bath Abbey Diptychs
A new collection of 23 diptychs depicting Bible stories from the Old Testament by Bath-based artist Sue Symons are on display in the Abbey’s newly restored east end. Created especially for the Abbey by the artist, each diptych comprises one panel of calligraphy, with beautifully illustrated verses from the Old Testament, and an adjacent textile panel. The Bible stories portrayed are amongst the most familiar ones from the Old Testament including of The Creation and The Fall, Noah’s Ark, David and Goliath, Jonah and The Whale.
With its themes of liberation and hope, this collection is the perfect complement to the Abbey’s ‘One Man’s Journey to Heaven’ diptychs by the same artist which is currently undergoing conservation and re-framing.
The exhibition is free; admission to the Abbey is via donation. More details here.
